Hmm..actually I was curious about this. Are bikes really unaffordable for you australians? And what abt Americans?
Another thing..

On the 2nd bike the tires a lil better for city riding right? (I'm buying a MTB coz the roads here are pathetic

)

it all depends on the type of bike you want.
if you want to do some serious downhill MTBing then you would opt for the kona stinky. or the specialized demo 9 for around 6000AUD
if you want more of an overall freeride bike it would be around 500AUD to 2000AUD.
if you just want a recreational bike then you would probably get a low end dual suspension for under 500AUD.
i would like to get a medium range hardtail with discs and around 4 to 5 inches of front travel. it would set me back around 1000AUD to 1500AUD.
most people will buy a low end MTB for under 200AUD.
the suspension should even out the bumps in the road... if the roads are quite bumpy you might want to invest in some wider tyres and maybe puncture resistant tubes (around 5 dollars each)

hmm..do we get these here? I dunno... Actually the 1st bike’s tyres were thicker right? And abt the mudguard I can’t remove it as how will I ride in rain then?

I will get splattered
It seems bikes are pretty expensive for you guys

When you say 200AD..how much would the monthly family income be like?

200AUD is about the same price as a 34cm television
im not sure how much my family earns monthly but im the only person in my family that would ride a bike....im sure they could afford one if they wanted though...they might have to save up just a little bit though..
me..i try to save every dollar i get....because the sacrifices i make are worth it in the end....the end being a new bike or camera
