Apart from rhe software version than changed to R1A044 I cannot see anything different on my 02 "branded" phone. Any other 02 users see anything different ar know of any other changes?
Only changes I have noticed is that it reset to the default shortcuts and my own shortcuts now missing in action.

I think the java implementation has been improved. In the old firmware playing certain java apps and the media player at the same time would not work. But now it does

. The media icon has changed after flashing...

Deano, Is the phone a Orange Generic One ?
i know that Orange are in a few countries and they were released at the same time ?
I never had the Start up screen in my phone before so it is something nice to be different.

@UncleBob. If your firmware is R1A044 AFTER the update then it hasn't worked - it should be R1J002. R1A044 is the original firmware

Updated mine fine but had to use opera as IE6 didnt work. There is a new folder on the memorystick called mp3 after update were you can put all your music. The sound in media player is slightly louder as is the sound when making a call and the phone hasnt hang once in 30 min

Sorry, I just noticed my typo. It was R1A044 and its now R1J002 after I did the update.
I was busy playing with the phone while typing my original post and did not proof read before submitting.
Thats what excitement does to you...
PS. This update really did my head in as I could not get the bloody thing to work, thats when I decided to RTFM and saw a post with a link to the Flash USB driver.
To think, like a schmuck I held the c button in all the time, although it jumped quickly from 60-ish % to complete...
