@sponse

Ya I just saw the info on GSMA, and it seems they found the HDR mode, although the images don't look that much different from each other.

@moogoo If indeed Triluminos for mobile is the same as it is on their Bravias which is a backlight tech, then they can use different panels. And using the old panels might be cheaper, I think. Why SE had a bad supply chain and how it lasted for a long time, we can only speculate. As for now, I just find those claims very probable.

@Bonovox See, that's why I think the claims are very convincing.

@itsjustJOH - I think it's plausible if the panels used on Z/ZL never had their backlight units (BLU) attached. If they had them attached into a complete LCD module (which I think is likely), it wouldn't be economical to disassemble them in order to change the BLUs.. know what I mean?

I don't know and I don't claim to know how suppliers and manufacturers work together for these various components so I can't say for certain. Like I said, I am merely speculating

After all readings from various reviews, I feel more inclined to skip the Xperia Z1
I just want the damn thing to reach the American border, because I want to try it out first before a definite decision.

with a new firmware update rolling out already.. i'm really curious to see if there are any major changes in camera quality, sound volume/quality, and/or screen quality (for those who aren't happy with it)
