No No

is not using SUPER AMOLED. That is Samsung's technology. SONY will be using OLED technology. Not sure about the technical aspects of the resolution.

It's a 50/50 joint venture between Sony and Samsung. It is not Samsung's tech.

S-LCD corp is a 50:50 joint venture between Sony and Samsung, not Super AMOLED. Super AMOLED is Samsung's technology.

I just want to clarify two points here...
1) Super AMOLED is not that super in any way, it is a very simple idea.. in normal touchscreen, the touch-layer is placed above the display... this is cheap and easy way for adding touch capability in any display panel... so you don't have to make a special production line only for touch screen... this is fast and easy and it works... yeah it works well for all non S-AMOLED displays !!
but it has some downsides
A- the display panel becomes a little fatter duo to the addition touch layer.
B- duo to the larger spaces between the actual display panel and the surface. the screen will have some diffeculties handling sunlight ( reflection and refraction thingies )...
So samsung did it the hard way, they dedicated a seperated production line in the display making and made the touch layer an actual layer of the AMOLED... so S-AMOLED is just AMOLED + touch surface !!.. there's no non-touch S-AMOLED.. as it will be un-practicle to add a touch layer to non-touch phone !!
this helped increases the sharpeness of the screen in the sunlight and made it thinner too than regular AMOLED with touch surface...
2) Sony Ericsson is a seperate company from Ericsson & Sony... it has it's own management and decison making... so sony having Bravia or what ever brand does not mean that SE will adopt it... it all relate to What Sony want and agree and what SE want and agree... they have some cross-brands like Cyber-Shot and Walkman but this was duo to a cross agreement between Sony it self as a CE geant and SE as a company... yeah no other mobile phone may adopt these brands as it will require Sony to authorise that and sony in many different ways won't accept that ( they want to control the brand )... if SE wanted a Sony brand from Sony... they have to give Sony alot of controls over the brand, market and marketing... Sony it self has it's own conditions and rules... for example Bravia is a brand for HD TV system being a LCD, Projection or what ever than is intended to be used in Home theater system or showing TV/Movie entertainment... it's not display panel technology... then if SE wanted that brand they have to make mobile phone with TV capability... or at least to officially a device that is also a video player... if SE don't want this then Sony will just simply says no...
same goes for PSP device... Sony want to put it's own standard and rules... if SE sees this is not possible then Sony will say no... this is why it has been too long for such a device...
in another way.. if Sony invented a technology.. like a camera sensor for example... this does not mean that SE will use it or will be able to use it... that technology may not fill SE needs so they will go for another alternative.. even from a compititor to sony... there some SE phones in the market that uses a camera sensor from other manufacturers even thought Sony makes thier own... it's just coz SE found that sensor does not fit thier needs... in the same time if Sony wanted the sensor to have it's special rules and condition then they may not allow SE to use it too... for example if that sensor is not intended to be used in a camera phone but in a dedicated camera duo to the fact it needs special lens system to show it's glory...

OK, Adreno 205 matches PowerVR SGX540....
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_d[....]orted_to_the_hd2-news-1941.php
and QSD8672 (1.5Ghz) has Adreno 220 which is going to be much faster than 205...
OMAP4 is outdated.....
hmm wait...that thing would arrive in Q1 2011....
but what about Tegra 2 and Orion which is "capable of delivering 5 times the 3D graphics performance over the previous processor generation"
yeah...unfortunately OMAP4 is already outdated...

@Xajel
I think everybody is aware of the fact that Super AMOLED is more of a promotional name rather than a technical name. However, it is also a technical name, in a way, since there is an actual difference in the actual specifications of the display panel. And although Super AMOLED not unique itself, I believe Samsung has the right to call those displays anything since they were the first ones to manufacture them and implement them in their products.
So if anybody classified it into either of the two categories (promotional or technical), I would not argue with them.

Uhhh, you do realize that the Samsung Galaxy S is running 2.1 and not 2.2 on that benchmark right? Where it says Nexus One 2.2 (and higher/ on top) is where Android 2.2 starts, so no, SGX540 is not slower than Adreno 205. However, Samsung will probably be smart enough and use the SGX545 instead of the SGX540 in their Orion SoC. People need to start reading and analyzing things more correctly and also slower.
Tegra 2 will be used next year if I'm not mistaken. Orion will barely start mass production 1H2011, which probably means that we will see it in smartphones in 2H2011.
