Not kind of, and no "z" and no "5" anymore. sony just confirmed it today:
"This product (z4) is a product aimed at completing the form of Xperia Z series".
http://www.sonymobile.co.jp/c[....]try/2015/0420_1_xperia_z4.html
so say good bye to z series and ob and expect a new product family at ifa.
this actually make z4 more special.

Hope we don't get egg like phones at IFA. By the way that doesn't mean it ends. It's a marketing line.

This just confirms what I posted on XDA forums.Sony finally realized what it takes to be competitive at the flagship level.
I was told that the Z replacement is supposed to have the best design, display and camera out of all the flagships.
Time will tell if Sony will be able to deliver a revolutionary flagship in Q4. It is supposed to use SD820 unless it gets delayed.

For all the folks looking forward to the Xperia Z5, I'd say keep your hopes down. It will be a vastly improved device over the Z4 but it isn't the 'ultimate flagship' that you may be hoping for. And the new design may not appeal to everyone, especially those of you who like a razor-thin frame.

So you have info about the next design language?

So, if it isn't razor thin then it must be thicker for a reason. New imaging tech?

@xperiazultra
Does not sound like a marketing line to me. "completing the form of xperia z series" is a very distinct, fellow.
@DACHA @randomuser
I'd actually love to see a thicker profile design from sony with a smaller top and bottom bezel then what z series achieved (due to thickness) and all metal, in the lines of that y concept. can you tell us if the y concept will be the base design of the ifa announced devices?

So when could we expect the ULTIMATE Sony flagship with all the best specs they can deliver? They need that kind of device if they want to be competitive... They have to go ALL IN!

Regardless what this next xperia will be, if it does not feature a camera with the supposed manual control of the G4, then Sony shouldn't bother
