a hardware filter will be nice but I think this is just software-based

XperiaJunkie, is this a hint of a new phone or some software stuff?
Let me put it this way. I have five days left on my try out on my Xperia 5 II, and i am still not sure about it. Its VERY big and i have trouble handeling it with one hand as i normaly do.
Should i return my 5 II and wait for this? Or just go ahead with the 5 II, even tho i dont like it very much. Buying another phone within six months is not possible.

Next 5 will be marginally smaller. And that's a maybe. If they tweak the top and bottom frames and switch to straight edges on the sides they might shave off two mm in height and one mm in width. Again that's a maybe.

I come from the XZ1 Compact and it is tall ... but as wide as the compact, have no problem with the size of it.

Being so tall. The 5 II has a tendency to tip over in my hand. The way I hold My phone. More then half of it is over my hand.

From the moment I have a cover for the phone it is less slippery,
I also had the XZ3 that was as tall as the 5 II ... and with it I had a problem,it was not only tall but also wide and curved.. but strange this one sits very good in my hand (with the cover).
I also wish they had a compact version again,
but it is too expensive to produce and most people like big screens.

They need to stick to 21W.
More will kill battery, like we see on chinese phones.
With 45, 60 or 100W phone will lose 15-20% per year.
