Haptic UI on Korea-only Samsung (Anycall) handsets:
This cute example is 2 rolling dice. Shake the phone, the dice roll around the screen, triggering the phone's vibration when they 'hit' the 'edge' of the display, before they 'settle' like real dice. It was eerily real, asif 2 dice really were been shaken inside the handset:
Been shown the menus by the Korean exec:
Haptic UI animated, vibrating and musical icons when they're touched, fully customisable LOL:

So Wanqa, what freebies did you manage to get your hands on at the show?
Well, when I got home and put all the promo stuff out on the table, this is what I had accumulated in the time that I was there...

:
T-shirts, lanyards (!), stationery, bags, keyrings etc etc.
Wanqa Claus details in my next post.

Right peeps, here we go, for the third successive year.
You better watch out,
you better be good...
Wanqa Claus is comin' to town, LOL.
For those unfamiliar with what I'm doing here, every year I attend the Symbian Smartphone Show and try gather smartphone-related freebies for those in the SAMD thread.
Why? Simple. 2 reasons actually.
1. Why should only Europe/UK show-goers have access to all this stuff? Not if I can help it, LOL.
2. My li'l way of saying thanks to all those that contribute to this thread and keep this very special thread alive n' kickin'.
No catches, nothing. Lekker (smartphone-related) 'Christmas box' for ya'll, LOL.
Postage? c/o Wanqa Claus. Ho, ho, ho. (If we ever meet up in SA, you can buy me a Black Label, LOL).
PM me which colour lanyards ya'll would prefer. (max 2 per person...don't all shout/PM for the pink ones at once,

).
I'll also distribute the rest of the stuff between us, but I'm keeping the 2 t-shirts and sweeties!
I have the following postal addresses:
1. Kryptik
2. JC08
3. Hobbster
4. Rhino8
5. JK (is he still around?)
6. Jmash (ditto)
7. Siosal (ditto)
8. mario2004
Now then, if any other SA Mobile Discussion contributors/posters (including any not from SA but who have contributed to this thread), PM me your postal address and I'll send some these out to you next week, when I'm on a week's break:
Enjoy.
Ho, ho, hooo... The Lord Of the Lanyards (L.O.L.?) hath spoken!!!

.

@ Gucci:
Yeah, that explains why the UIQ stand was a no-show this year, and why there were virtually fokkol UIQ3 handsets at the

stand...

@ Gucci:
I asked the one Finnish Nokia S60 software developer about a touchscreen N-series handset.
He couldn't even hint as to when it would be launched, except that more S60 touchscreen devices were certainly on the cards...
Also, I asked him why their first touchscreen S60 to showcase is on a music-orientated 3.2mp offering instead of a new flagship model.
He had a great response:
Being priced at 279 Euros, he said that Nokia were determined to show that access to touchscreen smartphones was not just for the exclusivity of top-of-the-range handsets and out of financial reach of many; the fact that it was a music-orientated mid-range (?!) handset to launch it was deliberate to emphasise Nokia's stance to make this more widely acceptable and accessible to a wider range of users.
Wow. Well now, if this handset is in itself a pre-cursor for things to come, then there's a helluva lot to look forward to...
