I've read on some of the Indonesia handphone forum and it seems that the person who wrote on GSMarena is only giving a false statement.
Actually, it is a pre order for the P990i by a major service provider in Indonesia.

On another note, I hope that this information from Bengalboy is true.

I preregistered on the SE UK store to be contacted on release, but then I also preregistered for other products which have already become available and suprise suprise, nobody contacted me so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Vodafone store Iakeside Essex have just told me that the P990 cannot be released at present as the business card scanner feature does NOT work and Wl FI is cause for concern SE have told Vodastores NOT to expect phones until August at the very earliest. Vodafone advised me to buy a1. blackberry as they CANNOT guarentee a release date for the P990

I know. Very frustrating. Makes you wonder what the point in having the ability to preregister is.
Still their loss - if they actually bothered to email or phone me when they have stock they would almost certainly get a sale out of it.

I am so incredibly frustrated by SE! I have had my P910i for almost 2 years now and as much as I love it, I WANT something new, something with a mega pixel camera, brilliant screen, Wifi, etc I am seriously looking at the products that Nokia and other manufacturers are offering. Although they may not meet all my requirements, something is better than nothing... "coming soon" must have a different meaning for SE than it does to the rest of us. 9 months is not soon!? Do preganant women say I am having my baby soon in their first month of pregnancy?!

i hate to be the bad one, but do you really think it's right that SE release phones that from day1 need constant firmware upgrades to fix the problems. It just seems so like the P900 all over again and i will not pay top $ for a phone and then work as an unpaid bug tester well not again anyway. I want a p990 or M600 or W950 but not until they actually work properly out of the box. As my P910i stopped syncing and SE support were no help i have had to move to the dark side, and their PC suite works and is so fast in comparison it makes you wonder what in the world goes on at SE great designs lousy implementation.
