@Tsepz... I don't get you... Didn't S3 get 43 hours of endurance time...???
Also in video playback only S3 is better than Z... In talk-time & web-browsing S3 falls behind Z...!!!

That pattern is the digitizer under the screen. You can see it on some screens more than some others. The Xperia U and Go shows that pattern quite prominently. On the Xperia U though it showed up under white background

On closer inspection, the results are amazing. The battery of my N4 is drained ridculously fast in calls. Z users that actually call will be pleasantly surprised.

Furthermore, I think it's unfair that all phones are put on at 50% brightness. I'm pretty sure 50% brightness of the Z is almost more than 100% of the S3. Because Amoled screens tend to be a lot less brighter than LCDs, they have an advantage in web-browsing in this test, which you would think to be the opposite due to the amount of white displayed.

Also, the deduction of the endurance rating is pretty stupid too. GSMarena should have a tool to set your usage (of how much call time, video playing time and web browsing time you clock) and give results accordingly.

Battery stamina mode wasn't even turned on. Don't GSMarena love their Samsung bias. Sony further optimise their battery greatly via updates anyway, so it's not a problem. It should way longer than the S3 pretty easily, when displaying at the same true brightness.

Overall, the phone has a pretty amazing battery life for a 2330mAh battery.

Don't we all just love the way certain people put in snide remarks in comments? It's always amusing when it doesn't turn out their way and completely fails on them.

This has to be the longest excuse I've ever read!
WRT Battery, Stamina Mode, Power Save was not turned On on the Samsung either, and Samsung also further optimise power management and memory management via updates, the S3 was on ICS when it got that 50hours, in 4.1.2 battery has taken quite a boost.
Thanks for a good laugh though!

Actually, when it was on ICS it got 43 hours and only with JB it got 50 hours. All according to GSMArena, so get you facts straight before laughing

Oh yes! You are indeed correct! They used the early leaked Android4.1.1 Update when they got 50hours, welĺ then, that thoroughly proves my point on the fact that they optimise power management with updates, thats a whole 7hours added, and then a further boost was added in Android4.1.2 in the recent XELLA update, which in the last week already got another update, XEMB1 , so as we speak its already pushing well OVER 50hours awesome.

To tell you the truth, without any kind of measurements it's just your opinion. Sorry but only consistent testing of firmware updates could be in any way indicative of improvements.
Without it it's just your or someones measurement based on his workload.

In that case, we've got 48hrs for the Z and 50hrs for the GS3 and unless GSMArena do another test, whatever else is said by an individual is their opinion, but since we have had the latter device for a while we can safely assume it is over 50hrs due to users seeing improvement, while with the Z we will have to wait, will be interesting to see how the Xperia Z, Htc One, Note2, GS3 AND GS4 will perform once they ALL have Android4.2, the Samsungs should have 4.2 by end of this month, not sure about the others.

According to rumours XZ should get 4.2.2 by the end of march.
