whether or not Cingular has true globally compatible 3G is purely semantic, the fact is that they have it now and their phones will still work to some extent in other countries.
I am, however, no longer in the US and just watch these developments for amusement. I look forward to what will be available when I finally return to the US as things seem to be moving in a somewhat positive direction. More carriers are offering 3G or 3G like services, more advanced phones are finally coming to the US and the market seems to be warming to data devices in the post-Treo era.

@Hlcn Twst
Quad Band is the way to go I agree. I will keep my W810 for a good while.
I'm on Cingular and my friends with other carriers look at my signal bars in amazement of the reception level, ragardless of where we are.
I want my next

phone to have quadband,walkman,3.2 or higher MP cam AF zenon flash, EDGE or 3G, FM Radio.

You know how the FCC runs things round here... Here's a lil something from Wikipedia....
In September, 2006, T-Mobile won a bid for large portions of the 3G Spectrum. The 3G network will be based on the UMTS/HSDPA 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz bands (which unfortunately is incompatible with European 3G frequency bands). T-Mobile grabbed up 120 bids covering 474 million people, which means they have multiple spectra covering the super-urban areas and should be launched sometime in 2007.

I haven't heard of one phone that uses these new frequencies. That certainly could be a reason for delaying the rollout. Maybe SE and others have given them a timeframe for new mobiles that include these frequencies and that time frame is way out there. That would certainly suck.

Doesn't the Z750 use that frequency?

After further review, the Z750 does indeed have the 2100 MHz UMTS band. Encouraging!
