We are having our elections over here today, surveys suggest a change in govt from centre-left to centre-right. The centre-right party wants to invest heavily in Broadband infrastructure so I'm hoping that happens.

November was supposed to be the arrival of NZ's Mobile Nirvana but in reality very little has changed. We now have a GSM alternative to VodafoneNZ called Black&White but as a Virtual Mobile Network Operator they don't own any infrastucture - they lease capacity on Vodafone's network so Vodafone basically pull the strings. More VMNO's are planned soon, but Vodafone will control wholesale pricing to them too no doubt. TelstraClear are a VMNO on Telecom's current CDMA network and Telecoms new GSM network which has been postponed 'til June 2009. Telecom announced today that they won't share the new network until 2011.
Mobile Data is still expensive and though faster than most landline broadband in outer suburban areas, not financialy viable for most people.

The remaining W910i stocks at CPW have been slashed in price; they're now retailing for £69.95 (approx R1120):
