I'm hoping the next P-series will have inbuilt hdd... like the newest mp3 players... I would like to see 20 or 40gb hdd on the next P-series... anyone agree with me?

No. Before too long 32gb duo pro cards will be available. :-D i'd be happy with 1 or 2 gb onboard memory, using expandable memory 4 movies etc This message was posted from a K750

Not if it implies I have to carry a backpack full of batteries around to get a full day's worth of juice.

I'd rather SE did some research to come up with a more intelligent filesystem than stupid FAT for those cards. But of course, that would compromise compatibility with the desktop. Dang...

what makes the P910's memory handling capability different from the P900's.

on the face of it, they both have the same form factor and pretty much the same look(with the exception of the keyboard)

is it a new firmware update? have the address lines leading to the memory slot increased?

Happy with 1 or 2 gig?.. Just think though, a film atm is about 200mb for resonable quality. The next P series will have a much better porcessor and ram therefore films will be coming in at about 1g running in at 25fps with about 400kb bit rate, so really a built in 40gb hard drive would be easily filled and needed.

I don't think memory stick duo pro or internal memory speed will be a bottleneck -

they are more than fast enough. And the 4GB cards coming out soon will quickly be replaced with 16 then 32GB versions...

I think current limit is 32GB. You have way to go on that one.

Guys, If I may just chime in with my two cents!

I was wondering the same thing.

I went through Sony Ericsson support and they categorically said that only a maximum of 1GB cards are supported owing to performance lags.

Leave aside the file system (though yes, it is FAT16!!)

The 2GB cards which are currently available will work but are not recommended for use.

This puts to rest the theory that SE only put a 1GB limit on the box and the manual because at the time of launch 2GB was not available.

Cheers!

oh yeah, my mistake, I forgot we were talking about the 910.

The poor old P910 is a dinosaur, albeit a smooth piece of kit...

Such issues won't be a problem for the K750 etc, which SE have claimed will work with the 4GB cards about to come out, and I'm guessing bigger ones won't be a problem either.
