Just to be politically correct using a capital B means 'bytes' and using a small b means 'bits'. (There are 8 bits in a byte).
So 1Gb is 1 gigabit.
1GB is 1 gigabyte.
Just to avoid confusion!

you would need more than a terrabyte if you do heavy graphics work, video work or sound work. i capture analog television, process dvd's, am an avid digital photographer, etc. i have a collection of over 200 cds ripped in lossless (about 120 GB of music), about 200GB of television (compressed), and tons of movies and pictures. having lots of space is not for everyone, but some of us need to have loads, and there is also a need for multiple drives when doing video work, one (or a raid stripe set of two) to read from and one to write to, in order to speed up the processing time. that right there is four drives, in my case 160GB drives, which make up for most of my hard drive space. i also like to keep duplicates of my music + television in case something goes wrong with one of my drives. anyone using pcs for more than ten years has had a hard drive crash and lost (unless backed up) important data. i have lost a lot in the past, and now, i should not have that problem again.
just to clear things up, and explain why some of us need loads of storage space.

My old 286 from 1994 (and it still works good) has 40 MB HDD and 1MB RAM
