@MR
I'm not sure who you were talking to but...
everyone on the

stand at the show today said Q1 2006 which is prior to April and thats also what the press release says. I had no reason to doubt what they were telling me today, indeed one guy I was talking to in detail said (quietly) it would be the first half of Q1
I was also informed that the P990s at the show are the most stable ones that they have had so far and when I asked if, as a developer, I could get one I was told that the SDK is not available for 2 more weeks (a fact I already knew as I am a registered developer and receive developer news regularly from SE and symbian) and that I should ask again then.
also, software most definitly IS the issue as both people I spent an hour with today were repeatedly having to reset the P990 as it hung many times and often showed a multi colour stripe screen from which there was no escape, despite them telling me it was the most stable version they have had
so I'm not sure who you were talking to but everything said seems totally contrary to what I have been hearing
I guess time will tell and everyone will just have to be patient as they ain't gonna get it before its available!

When I get mine the flip will definately stay in the box
I think if I do get the P990i, the flip would also stay in the box too.

I think most people just see the inclusion of the qwerty keyboard beneath the screen and assume that the screen size has been sacrificed due to this.
To (attemt to) clear thing ups....
Screen size is about the same, SE have just used up more of the wasted space around the screen, i.e moving the screen higher not waste space, and being able to fit the qwerty in the bottom.
correct me if i'm wrong...

So if the screen is almost the same, and they used the wasted space, then they could keep the qwerty keyboard on the flip and make the phone a little smaller...
I don't know if they tryed to follow Treo's style of keyboard but then they could keep some buttons like make a call, hangup and a numeric pad in the qwerty keyboard for people who don't like the flip, or even get rid of the flip for good...

But the space underneath the keyboard in the body of the phone isn't empty; it'll be full of gadgetry that just has to go somewhere else instead - so you'd change the whole shape of the phone, making it wider, or fatter, instead of taller. Personally I think it's probably better the way it is, and I dare they've done testing to prove that too.

Have managed to find some pics of the p950 from the smartphone show if anyone's interested. I just need reminding how to post links in thread!

I feel the screen is too small to warrant using the pen

Everybody, get over the screen size. It's almost exactly the same ... but it looks like the size of the phone has been reduced a little by eliminating wasted space around the border. Using a pen onscreen will not be a problem ... and being able to use more apps in landscape mode will actually make this easier!
