To those who were able to download the converter and for the benefit of those are wondering how to use the resulting information. The HEX output is the one that you need to use and you cannot just transfer it to the phone. You have to specify the EMS information via the TP-UDH (pp. 6, EMS developer's guide posted somewhere). Please note that an EMS message can have multiple text formatting, iMelody, Pictures, or animation.

Hehe, sorry, May i know what is TP-UDH and pp.6? All i know is I got the file .hx1 with codes inside but what do i need to do with that as to make it works.

Please bear with me, I really wish to make this work on my phone. Now seems like the EMS converter 1.1 is like a junk to me...just stating the fact, no hard feeling please..

TP-UDH = Transfer Protocol User Data Header. In standard SMS this contains the text message. In EMS, the first bytes (to a maximum of 128) contains the EMS header which contains Information Elements (IE) to describe the EMS message. For example, to play the built-in EMS sound, we need to send (in binary) 040B020003.

The EMS Converter is still useful for it allows conversion to HEX of RTTL and SmartLogo.

It is now available.

The Sony Ericsson EMS Converter 1.1 enables you to convert existing Nokia Smart Messaging logos and ringsignals (RTTL) into EMS formats, including iMelody for ringsignals. This provides a simple way to enable your existing content to EMS. The EMS Converter runs on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, or Windows 2000.
