i didn't take it to heart, but it struck me as a rather ignorant comment to make. i had quite a number of goth friends during uni and they are no more weird than anyone else i have ever met. they are people like anyone else, but the difference is their interests and hobbies have a more obvious impact on their physical appearance than most other people's - but it's no different to any "normal" person's interest in the latest fashions, shoes, jewellery, dance music, or mobile phones. their preference for black coats, period costume or body piercing is no different to anyone else's preference for FCUK, DKNY or Calvin Klein. it's what they like, and it's not hurting anyone either.

contrary to popular opinion, they are generally more intelligent and articulate than most people give them credit for. they are also usually far more tolerant of others than most "normal" people too, although they can be incredibly critical of what they perceive as shallowness. from personal experience, despite their outward appearance goths generally don't hold particularly controversial political views either - tending to a centrist or slightly left philosophy, with generally sensible and well thought out opinions on many issues.

I have absolutely no problems with goths at all..just have a joke and a laugh at there expense, just a topic of the moment if you know what i mean,im more curious and intrigued about them than anything else because i don't know anyone who is into that lifestyle. But goth girls have always facinated me and i do find them quite attractive for some reason...I need to go to a goth club one weekend and get to know these people specially the women.

I agree entirely with Gelfen. I know a lot of goths, and regularly go to a goth night out in Glasgow called Bedlam. In a regular nightclub, you get hassle, you get idiots, you get nutters, you get people who purposely try to stop you having fun. None of that with the goths, mate. Live and let live...to be honest, i'd hang around with a bunch of goths than a bunch of chavs anytime. Of course, you do get bad ones, but i have to say i've never met one.
