This is not good. Take it to SE service centre. You will not be charged if you have warranty.
Will a Sony store work? I don't know if I have insurance. Bought it from Newegg.com

You gotta ask them whether they repair phones.

I can't believe nobody here could tell me this... I posted about my problem in about 5 different forums.. Esato, Mobileburn, DSLReports (it's where I hang out the most), HowardForums.. and the DavinciTeam forum.. and with all that combined, I got exactly ONE useful answer, and that from a guy at the DavinciTeam forums whose post was so short I didn't believe it could hold the solution... but it did! Here is all he said:
"I had a similar problem to yours and it was related to the Memory stick card. When I took that out the phone would work fine but froze like yours when it was in. I had to get a new card. Worth a try, hope it helps."
That did it! Now I wonder if my card is busted..

. And why would a freakin phone reset kill my memory card? I'll see what I can do.

Thats good news. See if the card works on a card reader.

It doesn't seem to be working with the card reader... I have a card reader that can read all kinds of cards.. it has four slots on it so in Windows it is represented by four drive letters/drives that show up. I put the card in and double clicked each new drive letter and every time it said "please insert media" or something to that extent...
That sucks.
