Its a very simple and clever way to get people interested in the space missions. They may not actually put your names anywhere near the thing but as long as we think they have hey who cares lol

All the names will apparantly be going into a tiny Micro Chip and as well know the storage capacity for basic date is in this case is millions of names..So its really not such a big deal for nasa to do this.

The New Horizons spacecraft bound for Pluto is carrying a list of 435,000 names.Some of those names were contributed by slashdot readers The entire list is posted on the New Horizons website.

have you read what it is carrying? i forget exactly, but some nuclear stuff. plutonium or something, there is a 1 in 400 chance that it will blow up causing plutonium to scatter within a 50 mile radius - which is where i live. crazy.

haha yea! it was supposed to lift off about 10 minutes ago, but due to high winds, it didnt, and will lift off tomorrow.
