lol, I take it your not a ipod fan.... personally after having every kind of ipod except the 1st and 2nd gen I cant say they are that bad in all fairness. The 3rd gen was ok not brill and the 4th gen was a great improvment the ipod photo and ipod colour screen were crap, but the ipod video is nice the best mp3 player in my opinion. The shuffle and mini were also good for sports but im not sure about the nano yet

battery life? it lasts like 16hrs on the 30gb, I have one (not the one shown in the pic, but another) that lasts pretty gud

nah its a mates of mine, he smashed the screen and let me tinker inside before he trys to get it replaced lol.
the only thing is the ipod may have a 16hr battery, but it also has a large colour display, and a very good os, wheras the sony os on them is so bad i wouldn't take it off a stranger lol (had couple of players) also there is the question how many paople listen to music for more then 5hrs straight?
the one thing I do have against the ipod is them cutting down on the accessories so much
also I got some pics of the inside of a nano (taken today) if you guys want em?

well for me, if i go away for a long weekend or a weeks holiday, i like to travel light, and having to carry several chargers is a bit annoying. so yes, a few hours each way travelling. using it in the evening through my portable speakers etc.
just after i got it i took it to spain for a week and worked out i used it for 32 hours. did i have to charge it? No.
