its a tough one the images were horrible but i d like to have seen the build up to see if the kids were doing anything. its easy to look at them as just children but how often around the world in conflict do we see children carrying aka 47 etc.
it doesnt excuse what happened but i interested to see if the kids were randommly dragged into the compound and beaten or if there was a reason behind it.
i think its easy to sit here and say how terrible things are but i ve a few friends out there not by chose and they are scared whitless everytime a car or toyota pick up truck comes near(theyve lost 2 close friends from suicide bombers) when they see groups of people heading towards them as there not sure if this is it for them and i would imaging the iraq people feel the same way seeing a tank roll down the street or a group of heavily armed soliders coming towards them.

you did see the build up, the people were throwing rocks at the army.
The army's job is to detain people or to prevent them from causing harm.
Not beat the shit out of them. ESPECIALLY when they are begging for mercy.
I mean, he KICKED one in the balls.

oh and so when this happens it's alright because 'it's a small minority' but when Muslims try to explain that these extremists are a 'small minority' nobody listens.
Most people do listen and do understand that. As I have pointed out before if the majority of people really thought all Muslims were terrorists we would no doubt see a different reaction than we do.

I very much doubt whether most people think all Muslims are terrorists. If they did we would no doubt hear people denouncing Islam in general. Instead what we see are people denouncing terrorists and extremists. People are not stupid, they realise what is going on and they know that just because someone who blows himself up claims to be doing so for Islam does not mean that all Muslims are terrorists or condone such actions.
The sort of people who do condemn Islam as a whole are the right-wing crowd who want an enemy to help further cause.

so if a group that out numbered you was throwing rocks at you youd be happy to try to detain them and claim them down.
emotions take over in situation like this strange you were happy to point this out after the images we saw in london after the cartoons were published.
as i pointed out it easy to sit in an ivory tower and complain but until your in the situation that the troops and the iraqi people are in then things can changes rapidly.
i d like to think that if teenagers were throwning rocks at me i would behave sensibly and rationally but i dont know till it happens.its got to be hard on everyone in iraq at the moment be they british american or iraqi. one wrong move from anyone can result in some very horrible things

@slattery
As much as I can appreciate that emotions may have been running high, those men are supposedly trained soldiers. They are trained to react professionaly in tough situations, not to give into their emotions.

plus the mob were running away, and you have to take into account that they feel they are 'defending' their country from invasion.
Imagine if a guy came into your home and sat on your couch and refused to leave.
