This thread seems to have died a bit. Why?

Is A2DP not interesting anymore or has it been added in any firmware update? I would still want a set of sexy wireless STEREO headphones with my Walkman phone.

Apart from this flaw the W810i is really a great phone.

@BUFFBOY- for the purpost of this thread, it's the stuff that lets you listen to stereo music via a bluetooth headset. Apparently no one around here can confirm if it is hardware-dependent (which means we're out of luck, since W810 hardware has been finalised waay earlier before it was released), software-dependent (which means we can get it in a future firmware update), or both (read the remainder of this post!)

I posted this on another thread i started, but what the hell. it fits right in here too!

One interesting thing to note is that the W810 has bluetooth 2.0 - yet no mention of A2DP. Does this tell us that the actual bluetooth module in the phone is different from that of the K750/W800 (which had 1.2) - and that a firmware update may/may not give it the necessary A2D profile, with given the right amount of pushing? I mean, why would even bother to upgrade it to BT 2.0 only for the sole purpose of upgrading it (better compatibility with newer phones with BT 2.0 an A2DP? an iffy proposition, imo), if the W810 was posed as a minor upgrade to the W800 in the first place?

K750 is bluetooth 2.0 also. K750 White Paper "The K750i supports Bluetooth specification 2.0."

A2DP is an extra hardware component on the bluetooth chip itself, so it's not necessarily true that A2DP is present on the chip. If it is, then it could theoretically be enabled by firmware.

Bluetooth chips can be manufactured with a subset of the available profiles, so not all "Bluetooth 2.0" devices will necessarily have all the possible profiles that are available in the bluetooth 2.0 standard. For example bluetooth HF headsets only have the headset profile, to keep the chip small. So I'm inclined to think that the W810 doesn't actually have the A2DP hardware on the chip at all.

I'm hoping for an A2DP upgrade for my w810i too.. Currently i'm using itech blueband BT headphones with a Bluecon a2dp convertor, and another bluetooth earset, the SE IV 835 for voice calls.. its irritating to have to carry 2 BT headsets at a time

even if SE doesn't want to put on the a2dp profile on the phone, at least make it possible to stream music thru headset profile would be nice
