if you wanted xp why not just buy a PC??
What if you already own a Mac?
What if you can't afford the space or money for two computers?
What if you dislike the 'design' of PC hardware?
What if you just want one computer for the best of both worlds?

True, but there are still a few things that you can only do on a Windows PC...
Play the latest games being the main one... and I'm sure there's a few bits of specialist software that isn't available for Macs for which some Mac owners would like a dual-boot system.

Well,
engadget are now reporting that the contest to get WinXP dual-booting on Intel Macs has now closed and the $13,000 prize been awarded.
Two hackers by the names of 'narf' and 'blanka' wrote a BIOS emulator for the EFI bios replacement in intel Macs. If installed, when the normal Apple logo appears on powering up, you just press a key and a Windows logo replaces it and boots into Windows instead.
This method has now been tested and confirmed working on intel iMacs, MacBooks and Mac minis.
Full instructions and the required downloads will be posted soon.
So, now for any intel Mac owners, if you need to use Windows for whatever reason, now you can without having a separate computer or using slow emulation software.

@shyam: most PC emulation is slow. I emulated a Windows95 machine on a bochs library bbased vm, it took a full 2 minuites to load on my 3200+ amd machine.

I understand your point, but you're not emulating x86 but only bios which should not slow down much or even not slow down.

omg im achually pissed off. I spent £450 quid on a new laptop so when I get my mac book pro I can still use my listing programs etc.... then this arrives whcih is a great idea but just annoying in my circumstances..... So this software makes a macbook pro fully windows compatible? And you can run both os on the same hard disc? I liek the idea of just pressing a button and it boots windows instead of mac os seems like a really good idea. Question is when will be avalible for us common folk?
