If you look closely at the picture the car seems to be covered with that sort of flat black vinyl that protos usually get.

As for the silver alloys, maybe they were to try and make it blend in more, and look asthough it was the old model, to unsuspecting folk.

yep its pretty standard for protos to be covered with black vinyl and other exterior attachments to mask the models identity,so its likely they may have changed the alloys aswell in this case.

surely the side of the car is just burnt?

you can see yellow on the inside of the onside door.

surely the wouldnt make a car in one colour then coat in in another to mask it??

I still like the black LP640, I'd marry that car

if I had 600,000 U.S. I'd gladly spend 300,000 for it if it comes with insurance
