hmm im also quite intreged by this situation as i bought my sandisk 2gb from ebay, its official from what i can see as the build quality is fantastic and i hear there aren't any fake sandisks?
...back to the point, my battery drains twice as quick. It just so happend within a day after recieving and using the 2gb card i updated my firmware for the first time ever and was just wondering if its my firmware or the 2gb card. The firmware is R1BC002 and my battery wasnt 100% full when doing this update, proberly about 85% if that makes a difference??
I really hope its just the firmware...

I've suffered from the problem twice now with these fake 2GBs. the card cost me £80 from ebay! it's the same with japanese writing on. the first one had the same issues- causing phone to freeze whenever the memory card needed to be accessed.
i got the ebay seller to exchange it for a 'new' one (the one i'm using now). still the same problems. if i store below 1GB of data, it seems to be stable..

wasn't w800 supposed to support up to 32 gb max?? (i think i have read that somewhere)
ms pro duo is theoretically capable of sizes of up to 32gb, the w800 is probably limited by firmware to a certain size though. Only time will tell

hmmm... most of what has to be said already seems to have been said in this thread.
i recently acquired a Sony 2gb MS Pro Duo (High Speed) from Dubai. got it really cheap there & its genuine, made in Japan.
works absolutely fine in my W800i. no difference is phone speed or battery usage as compared my old Sandisk 1gb MS Pro Duo. totally filled it up to the brim with music as well. its an aboslutely worth upgrade...

phones RULE!!!

Yes, if your battery is draining twice as fast, then you've got a fake memory stick. the correct drain rate is 6-7% per hour, which will give you almost exactly 15 hours of MP3 playing.
I bought two 2 GB Sandisk cards from 2 different ebay sellers, and one drained the battery twice as fast as normal, and the other wouldn't even load files! Have had both replaced under warranty through Sandisk and the replacement cards work perfectly. Avoid ebay cards!

This happens to me with my 1GB MS also.. The trick is to insert it, wait 5mins (dont use any of the functions involving the mstick) then the phone works properly.
It's due to the size of the stick, my 64meg stick takes about 30secs to fully load up the FS, a 512 takes about a minute-2mins.
I can play mp3s straight away, but accessing games and apps, and trying to watch videos or view photographs is virtually impossible whilst it's loading.
I'm putting it down to the processing power of the phone, and/or the memory stick socket being a bit slow, to save on battery power.
After the initial 'loading' wait time, everything picks up speed and works fine.

I was almost 100% there wasn't 'Sandisk' fakes
How long did it take for you to post your old 2gb and recieve your new? I cant believe this whole time, it was infact my 2gb card draining my battery... however one thing still confuses me...
My mates got a w800i and he updated his firmware the same day as i did. He has kept his 512mb which was equiped with his model and before his update his battery was fine as was mine, but now that hes updated his battery life span has ruined. His icon will go to red suddenly, then when he views it again it will be yellow. In general the battery is crap.
The EXACT same thing has happend to me, but becasue i purchased my first ever 2gb card i wasnt sure whether it was the card or the firmware.
...now im more confused then ever.
