I think that having this forum blocked to the public is kinda selfish. If it weren't for google and a bit of reading, I would have never registered.
You also have to remember that this is a commercial site, so by restricting this site to let's say 100,000 members, it's a lot of lost revenue for the site.
IMO I don't see the point of having more members. I wouldn't want to join a forum which restricts you to reading say the first post of a topic and that's it. How would you know about the really good dynamics in the forum?
And the SE phone avatars are great! It may seem boring at first but it keeps this forum nice and simple. No annoying signatures or avatars. I lie esato the way it is (and would be even better if we could centre the text/thread area
