After using P800, 900, 910 Nobody can convince me to get a Nokia or a WM5, after all its the easiest to use specialy with one hand, best features & GR8 for buisines use.
And now waiting for the P990i.

I would definitely go for Sony Ericsson P990 for these reasons :
1. 2MP camera is enough for me. I use my Canon for real photography.
2. I'm not so much into video recording.
3. Design wise, I don't like Nokia N93 and N73.
4. Size wise, P990 is a bit smaller than N93.
5. Weight wise, P990 is lighter than N93.
6. I've been experinced with UIQ (don't like Series 60 or up interface) of Symbian.
7. Touchscreen makes P990 like a "real" smartphone.
8. N93 is very ugly.
9. I don't like Nokia.

I dont think you need Edge and UMTS in one Device anyway. No company has released both technologies on a single GSM SIM CARD.
I would go for P990.
All the advantages of the N93 are multimedia wise only. 2.0 is enough for me for Mobile use and personal pictures. Ive got a 10.1mp camera for profesional shots, a sony video camera for videos.
I admit though the TV out is an awesome technology to have, but you can get the bluetooth media viewer at SE and you will look cooler
To put it into perspective, these devices are made for different walks of life. The N93 and the K800 would be seen more as competitors whilst the P990, Palm Treo Series and windows mobile PDA phones would rival each other more.
Is very convenient to have EDGE/3G in one device ! 3G is very limited in coverige and data rate stability while driving. Funny I also thought the same as you at first - before I got a device with both ! Trust me - you'll laugh at the old gprs after using Edge. 3G is nice if you are stationary and get a strong enough signal. And you are wrong again assuming that providers offering 3G do not offer EDGE ! Actually the opposite is more applicable - with more and more providers offering EDGE where the 3G signal is not viable to introduce/develop/expand. Greetings from South Africa. Mario

The N93 is undoubtably the better specced phone...That's where we disagree - the P990 is far far better specced as a phone. The N93 might have camera/video stuff but that doesn't make it better specced - just confused!
does the p990 have these ?
GPRS Class 32, 107.2/64.2 kbps
EDGE Class 32, 296 kbps; DTM Class 11, 236.8 kbps
Polyphonic (64 channels), MP3
ALLMOST FORGOT: NOKIA DON'T POSTPONE A PHONE FOR HALF A DECADE !!!!

Is the channel number of polyphonic really that important? I never use a MIDI as ringtone. MP3 or AAC is better.
Nowadays, many people use MP3 as their phone ringtones.

my bad I was referring to mp3, but seriously who uses midi as a ringtone anymore
p.s. I'd take the touchscreen over the extra midi channels any day
