We all know the prototypes have lots of faults, I do not belive the big UK and european networks here have a had a stable version to test yet,let alone have a version they will be prepared to RELEASE AND SUPPORT
The imports being offered at this stage will be early models full of probs bought in from the far east through independent supply chains I wonder where will the warrenty liability rest for these little gems!

We are in for a quite a wait to get network ready versions in the UK (September at the earliest is my guess) I also fail to see that they will be any cheaper than the original prices being sought for the first generation P910i devices, seems to me a lot of people here have stopped using any kind of logic when looking at this device
ps thanks for the pics but what were they taken with? I hope the P990 camera offers better quality!

I know it passed the first stage of Vodafone's testing - and Vodafone do some seriously vigorous testing of devices, I haven't heard about the second part but I'm guessing it must have passed for the firm date release date of 21st August to have been said company wide...

I hope Orange are testing it as well, otherwise I'll have to consider getting it SIM free. Only problem is I'm not sure if the phone insurance I pay on my current contract would apply to a SIM free phone. I'm guessing not but if anyone knows please tell me. I really don't fancy going through the automated call menus again!

Have ordered from a couple of these shops now (can send back under DSD) for about three days and still not received anything. I think it's safe to say they haven't got them... unless anyone else can show otherwise?

I'd certainly be interested to know after parting with my money.

What you have to do is call up and change the IMEI to the new phones one, providing your insurance company allows you too, I know o2 does

I agree 100% with you Vodafone do give their devices a really good test and I still dont see any indication of release dates or prices on the vodafone .co.uk site However the p950i is shown for August but absolutly no mention of the P990.
As you point out we still dont know if it got through second stage testing, and if I remember rightly they were one of the last to release the p910 I think Vodafone users will be in for a longer wait and a price shock

I posted a short time ago in the P990 discussion thread that vodafone confirmed to me separately in both their new sales depatrment, and their upgrade department, that they have 21st August as their launch date for P990, though there is zero chance I will get a branded one... even if they are first

I think this is a bit more realistic £600 but note no dates yet given

Repeated from another thread

"Okay good news

www.scancom.co.uk have stocks coming on Friday and I spoke to their Orange sales manager (ask for her by name "Bhavesha") and they currently estimating they will have 50 units unallocated. So call them on (UK) 08700 110210. All the P990s are for Orange business and personal contracts (UK only). I also believe this first batch are not Orange branded. Good Luck. "
