Hi All,

I had tested BB Connect 3.35 for the past couple of days. It works with P990i with BES (but only supports the latest R3A04 firmware) . I am not entirely sure if it works well with BIS. There are a few issues I had discovered and note I am on Exchange Server:

1. Moving of emails to archive folders. These emails are still there on the P990i.
2. I can download attachments of up to 30kb. I can use QuickOffice to open it. However, if I choose to use Blackberry's way of "View Attachment", BB Connect 3.35 attachment viewer will crash. If I continue trying harder, the whole BB Connect 3.35 will crash. Have to reboot the phone at this point.

3. Calendar - If I use BB on the P990i to make a "New Meeting". I then invited someone who in the end rejects the meeting. If I delete this calendar entry on the P990i, it will not delete the entry in Outlook. Strangely, if that person accepts the meeting, and then I go delete from P990i's calendar, Outlook will also be deleted. Note I only tested invitation of 1 person.

On RIM devices this is common & simple to resolve.

2 things is you device in wireless sync options (I have no clue on BB Connect software where it is sorry) set to Mailbox wins or Handheld Wins? Also check in the BB Connect desktop software IF IT apply's.

Another thing to check - again coming from BB units experience - check to see if Delete Options is set to Mailbox & Handheld not just Handheld/mailbox.

I hope this helps directly or even indirectly - albeit prompting some thoughts for you to go hunting to get the resolution you're after.

cheers.

So,

I'm in San Francisco and have a p910a running blackberry connect successfully on T-Mobile through my law firm's BES. It is grat. i love my phone and love not having acrappy RIM device. Can someone answer definitively that I will be able to run the latest version of Blackberry connect, whether the version for the 600 or not, on the p990i if I were to buy it? I don't want to spend $700 on the p990i and not have it be able to run BB connect successfully.

Hi Prom1, those issues are bugs in the BB Connect software on P990i so until RIM solves it with a newer version, I am afraid we have to live with it

Hi lakessler, the BB connect software are completely different between P910i/a, M600i and P990i. Each has its own specific version of BB Connect and you will also need to watch out for firmwares too. The current latest P990i firmware (R3B01) does not have a compatible BB Connect client till date. This is the reason I am still stuck at R3A firmware cos I needed BB

it is also why I am using back my BB 8700g since I had upgraded my P990i firmware and BB connect is unable to maintain APN connection

I must be late to the party... I didn't even realise there WAS a BB client for the P990i!

I only thought a M600i client existed!

LOL, P990i is SE's flagship phone running same OS and UIQ version as M600i. Hence it should support BB just like M600i.

Sadly, there is no easy way of knowing when a new version of BB Connect Client has been release In my country, if there is a new firmware being released and kills off the BB client from working after upgrading to this new firmware, then we have to call up our local SE support number every now and then to query on availability

Does anyone have any info on when RIM / SE will be releasing BB connect for the p990i? It is a bit ridiculous that they marketed the phone as having BB connect, and now they don't even have it for download. I really want a wifi handheld with a 2mp camera.
