> K800i joystick: uh-oh

Very strange, i have had lots of joystick SE phones, including t68, t610, k750 and now k800i, and they all had problems with the joysticks within a couple of weeks, which the exeption of the k800 which after 2 months of owning works as new. I was feeling fairly optimistic that SE had fixed the problem, now I am not so sure.

how is this possible? how can SE not make a joystick which lasts...my brother has an Alcatel OT735 for over 2 years now and its joystick still works as good as new
and with al the promises for the k800's joystick...just can't believe it!

I simply folded up a paper towel and then stuck the corner of it in & under the joystick area. I push it in as far as I could. I cleaned it up quite nicely!

looks like I might forget about upgrading to k800...
I drop some WD-40 into the joystick of my K750 and it works like new again. you need to open the front casing though..

I don't know why SE can't just use a D-pad like the one that's on the W900. That's a fantastic D-pad; really comfortable to use, and dust-proof, too!

This seriously isn't looking good for Sony Ericsson and the K800i... plenty of phones dying on people, and now it seems as if the joystick is no better than that on the K700 or K750...

No problems with my k800i joystick, i think some people just moan for the sake of it. I happen to think the joystick on the k800i is pretty good whereas the d-pad on my w810i was and is pretty dire and makes an awful sqeaking noise everytime i use it.

The joystick on the K800i is complete arse. its the only thing I hate about the phone. The downward direction doesn't work unless you force it down, in which case your obvious gonna break it. Selecting alternative words whilst text messaging can sometimes trigger sending the message before you've even completed your text! Has happened to me a couple of times. What a knob-end design. Loads of people are reporting this problem, can't beieve no-one in SE's design department picked up on this!!!
