Everybody knows that there are much better AV players out there for a fraction of the cost. Battery life, storage capacity and most importantly sound quality, the ipod really is pants!
I wouldn't consider using any other laptop for serious stuff, my trusty old ibook is the dog's whatsits but ipods? Yuk!

yeh... but the ipod is the dog,
Battery life, - most people charge their mp3 player every 6 hours rahter then using it without charge
storage capacity - 30gb is 7500 songs, anyone who needs more can buy a 60gb one... and if thats full there is only a few shitty ones that are 80gb
sound quality, - depends what qaulity you take it off the cd at, you can change it from the default 12kbs if you think you notice the difference
the ipod is also one of the smallest 30gb players, and the nano is also very small, they are also a well reconised brand which is easy to use and nice looking.
they dont fall apart and are a pleaseure to use.
Ive had one since 2003, and never looked back, even when I hated apple (yes there was a time lol)

Yeah, i see your points here but by sound quality I was talking more about the amplifier. I've always found them to be a bit lacking in depth of sound. I know that it's a portable player and it depends on your headphones as well but compared to other players, I'm not impressed.
