You could have a point but if he can get to an SE service center, why not to let them check the battery. The battery could be okay but not the charging circuit in the phone. Typically I get 2 days but I have BT active all the time, RSS is updating every 2 hours, Worldmate udating every 4 hours, and Active Sync going out over the net via GPRS to sync my data. I did however turn off 3G considering the basic data applications that I am utilizing.

Try turning off hand writing by placing input on keyboard. This really helped me in increasing battery duration.

Because 3G/UMTS and GSM/GPRS are in effect 2 (or three) different networks, so the phone has to connect to a whole host of different receivers to be able to talk to all networks.
Effectively you're using twice the number of antennae and twice the power to operate twice the number of connections.
