dont go for the w810...think about it urself..wats better...except for edge.and no joystick..and ur joy isnt troublin u anywayz so wait another couple o months and get w850..that certainly will have a way better screen then w800 and w810 (cuz its the same screen as k800which is amazin) ...i have a k790 and my uncle w810..he likes my phone better..cuz o the better interface and screen..
IMO wait for the w850..that will b a tru upgrade rather then jus a design one..

Why will it be a true upgrade? In that respect it will have a crap camera. worse than the w800i. It may well have a nice screen and walkman 2.0, but i woudn't consider it a 'true upgrade' if even an upgrade. To me its a different style of phone not even competing with the w800i/w810i.

I would defiently go fourth and purchase the w810i. I had a w800i, and each time i look at it now, it looks depressing from jus the dull screen, as we all know the w810i has a great screen even if it isn't quite as good as the k800i.

Hissing?... my k750i, w800i and w810i have all sounded fairly similiar, but i am most pleased with w810i as it seems louder. I guess i've been fortunate enough not to have ever witnissed such a hissing sound in these phones.

As for the camera shutter, i too looked at it as drawback, but after 2 weeks of usage i realised that my lens is already protected by a plastic surface which doesnt get scratched (from my experience anyway). I could always cut out a screenprotector to fit on there if worse comes to worse.. With my w800i, now and again i would realise the shutter is still open as i reach it out my pockets which isn't as secure when exposed. (Not much of a downside to a w800i as it has a shutter which should be closed anyway...)

One small feature which i may personally enjoy more so than others is the VideoDJ. I make alot of short videos whether it be my friends trying to do football skills, or anything for that matter. After caputuring whatever it is, i usually take it too VideoDJ maybe edit crap bits. This VDJ has been improved soo you add mp4 files to the background as opposed to crappy recordings. It also has transitions to make real movie clips. Again this may not seem much of a feature to most but i like the little things this phone has to deliver than the w800i, and it isnt just EDGE and the design (for most people) that makes this better.

sound coparison:
W800i - Anti Hiss driver (ASKD) loud! bassy! clean!
W810i - No mod as of yet... Not as loud as the modded, not as bassy but still as clean
Ipod Shuffle - nice portabl audiobut no EQ but very very very loud

Screen: W810i wins hands down

Cam:
W800i nice cam better with modded drivers like Hybrid 2.4
W810i better live cature but still just the stock 5.4 cam driver

W700i and the new W850i the reason i think AF is removed because of the branding its not a cyber chot phone is it?!

general looks:

i find the w800i white n orange goes very well!!! the keypad is ugly joystick is lagging now its only 3 months old

W810i looks sexy keypad is horrible for texting i love the Dpad though being an ex nokia user also the cam shutter doesnt bother me

GUI:
W800i and W810i have the same UI apart from the W810i has the good ol' activity menu im using generic SW for both phones so UI is the same for me

In conclusion: use em both find which one u like more then keep that one i think ull choose the W810i as u have looked into it

have u used it though?
is the keypad n dpad for you or are you into the joystick?
will u use the active menu?
are you worried about unable to mod the CID49 chip phone?
does the cam shutter both you?
do you like your w800 enough to say bu bye to it?
have u modded the w800 dat files yet?
if yes are you gnna miss your modded cam n sound drivers?
are you gonna hate having flight mode USB data transfer?(no one has mentuend this)
is the $40 gonna pay for your food? (lol)
the speaker is quiet for phoning is this a problem? the w800i has a modded driver to fix this...
do you need the upgrade?
or do you want the upgrade?

nice reviews of the products ^.
just wait for the w850i, this supports A2D..something which lets you use wireless handsfree. No more propreity plug (which breaks if you keep tugging it - i.e hpm-70)

Hissing noise coming from ANY MP3 playback phone is a subjective judgement. I'll tell you why. Most songs encoding on a computer via Sound-In from say an audio tape or record (yes still lots of music that ISNT on CD yet) WILL have that HISS noise. Didnt bother most ppl back in the day when tapes/records where around.

Also some songs where created with a hiss or crackle on purpose for nastalgic reasons. Point in case .... Bon Jovi's "Ride, Cowboy Ride" from the New Jersey album was NEVER released on Record, yet was on Cassette & on CD simultaneously. I was AMAZED thinking that it was JUST like an old record. Variable bitrates can ALSO have this affect on music ... plus Re-Encoding music from one format to another. ie Source = CD, encoded in MP3 format at say 190kbps then Re-Encoded to AAC at say 120kbps .... most likely will give you a LOW background hiss/feedback sound.

Mind you SONY's ATRAC encoding format ... much critisized was PERFECT for eliminating this. FYI.

too bad they skipped/skimped on ATRAC support with the line

to add insult to injury, the newer phones (even non-:w:) actually play WMV, but now ATRAC!

well its not that good from what i hear (the sony wireless handsfree). 6 hrs only using the wireless handsfree. quality decreases when battery runs low and quality is not good when moving the phone around with it on. so dam expensive too. Anyways you can always use different branded wireless handsfree.
