I've looked around at the site using Babelfish translation and I can't find any mention of frequencies or prices but I would only assume it uses similar frequencies as the rest of us, (at least a tri-band phone) as it wouldn't make sense for SE to produce so many different phones for different markets.
I mentioned it to a friend of mine who said if I can get him the model number and such he will get his sister to buy it in Japan (where she lives) and send it over for me. I just was trying to see if it would even work here first.
It is one seriously sexy butt... I mean phone!

@rhett121: save your cash, it wont work. Japan DOES use different frequencies. I've had many friends from Japan that move out to another country, not one has found a country that allows them to use their JDM cellphones. Much to their disgust, of course, since Japanese phones are that much cooler

I did at least find out it was around 35,000JPY ($270USD) but alas, I'll have to wait for another.
It's a nice looking phone, but it's the waterproofing that really makes me drool! It's always raining here in New England (as I've heard it is in "Old" England as well) and I've lost 2 phones to water fatalities so far.

I wanted an SO505i when it first came out......found out(2 years later) from SidneyLopSides(se:nse; pic from him) that they don't have SIM slots......
.....so no use over here......damn DoCoMo!!

Yes, not only is the Operator tied into the handset, so is the Subscriber I.D; so no usage outside the original contract....
On a lighter note, look at Vodafone KK's range of handsets(i.e: Sharp 705/904/905SH), these DO have SIM card slots, so world usage Is possible

Ability to temporarily 'roam' on another network should still be possible, regardless of whether an Operator 'locks' a handset to it's service(s)....you still have to tell your Operator you would like to roam, and for only a set peroid, then normal service is resumed. Can't see why DoCoMo would be any different.....

Yes, for the Japanese going out to other countries,
but, a few weeks ago, I was in Japan and I tried my Vodafone UK sim in those and other Vodafone UMTS/GSM handsets, and my SIM would not work.
And yes, you might be able to get some of the older models unlocked, but new batches often have new levels of security.
Even if you can get one onlocked, I doubt that you can use email services..
I know my unlocked 802se is very limited for every day use in the UK.
