Come on, its easy enough. Parts are cheap, as are the tools needed, and the knowledge on how to perform the task isnt exactly the most difficult thing to work out.
sorry etaab but I disagree. You might be just fine at soldering, but an inexperienced solderer, even those who might be competent at soldering an electronic kit form dick smith, would make a complete mess of replacing the K750 joystick (if they don't destroy the main pcb to which it is soldered). It's not a soldering task for the inexperienced.
If you've done it yourself, and have no soldering experience, and didn't make a hash of it, then please correct me.

I agree with this completely, in fact that is exactly the point I tried to make. Did you actually read my post completely before jumping on the one little point about joystick replacement?
If the joystick is stuffed, it takes someone with soldering skills to replace it. HOWEVER, most of the time the joystick is just dirty, as you say, and replacement is not necessary.
Personally I've never seen one that needed replacing.

(my k750 is 4 months old, and the joy is still working well, got a little unresponsive a couple of months ago, but a quick rortaate of it, like i used to do on t630 worked it out fine, i havn't had to do anything since.) I generally clean out the area around the joy with a small paint brush every few days, and that keeps most of the dust out. On further inspection mine does have the little silcone cover on it, as discussed in this thread...

the silicon cap would make a big difference imho.
Personally I couldn't be fooked taking the phone back to the service centre. If they give me shit about the case having been opened I'll just tell them it was worked on by a qualified service technician and they have no right to invalidate the warranty unless they can prove the work done was faulty. Simple. I consider myself qualified, since I've only ever fixed phones when disassembling them - never broken them.
Besides, I have had my own phone apart over 20 times, and it still works perfect, so perhaps for you it's a good idea to take it back to the store, but for me and many others, we are not afraid of destroying our phones because we know what we are doing.
If the store opens your phone to fix the joystick, guess what they will do? Spray it with electronic contact cleaner!!

great us esato geeks upon the phone, clean the dust and solder etc.. but that's should not be a pre-requiste to owning the phone....
i like the joystick cause it's a good to use.. but se's joysticks have been stinking up the joint lately...
my k800i joystick is still going strong though

Maybe, but I still prefer this phone to the alternatives, regardless of the extra maintenence. (btw, I've never heard of a joystick needing replacement and therefore soldering, it's only ever been just in need of cleaning.)
Also, you can just just blow air into the joystick to clean it - you don't need to open the phone unless it's really dirty.
Most joystick based phones have reliability issues, the K750 joystick problem is it's openness to dust, not it's ruggedness, so most of the time fixing it is just a matter of cleaning. The K750 joystick is extremely tough.
D-pad based phones are more reliable, but I much prefer a joystick in actual use.
