yeah, my signal is also a bit unstable.
it's weird tho, because in areas where i used to get like 3 bars with my old phone, i get no reception now with my SE.
i'm pretty sure it's the crappy GSM service with rogers.
i'm not sure if there are any SE service centres even in canada
