mathmos23 - thanks for the interesting information. i was told by ericsson service centre in singapore that the prototype phones cannot have their firmware / software upgraded not have the phone repaired. thought i should share this with you since you indicated that your friend's father will be sending his for firmware upgrade.

None of the Ericsson prototypes can/will be upgraded. However, if it is a production unit with prototype software it will be upgraded upon request.
