yeah I used to use them on my t68i
are you saying I can't do this without going on the internet on the phone or having to pay for it ie not using o2 wap???

I'm translating from norwegian so the words might be a little different in english, but here goes:

Open the TOOLS folder in the menu.
Open SETTINGS.
Open CONNECTIONS(INTERNET ACCSESS).
Open CONNECTION POINTS(ACCSESS POINTS).
Highlight your access point and select EDIT.
Scroll down to IP-ADRESS GATEWAY and select EDIT.
Type in 0.0.0.0.

This is one suggestion...

i've change the waps gateway ip to 0.0.0.0 and it still says general system error

Well, then... The only other thing I can think of is that you have to use your regular dialup account for your PC instead of WAP-dial up. Anyway I'm sure there must be a way to get it to work! Did you check out link I provided before?

for the mail access?

That's the wap account, in the wap menu. But what's the data
account, in the data communication menu?
You have most likely used IP 0.0.0.0 and a DNS ?.?.?.?
That's the same one you have to use in the field that Raven pointed
out.
