Well i dont have the energy to see if anyone gives the answer so here it is: arthur dent has decended from a shipwreck from another planet. The mices think his brain contains the answer since he is the soul survivor after the destruction of earth but they are wrong . So the Q is not asked. Therefore this ranting about 42. I recommend the 5 books or is it 7. Anyway read them.

I've read all of his books (in English) 'cause they were not translated in Italian (just a few of them was, and It took a lot of time to find them!!!) and than I've realized that a lot of jokes were based on the language itself, and read them in italian could be a nonsense.
I liked a lot "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe": the idea of spending time eating, drinking and watching the end of the universe (and how it ends), every night, was so funny.
I'm sorry that there will be no way read anything new from him...
