these posts make me laugh, so what if it is? which i doubt very much as you have to pay like I did to even get it on a contract. and as mentioned p910is go for approx £150
so what if a lot of people on here are selling them its only beacuse its a dedicated forum so it looks as though lots are selling when in reality its only on this site. its Like going on a specialist car site and seeing lots of same cars for sale.

Spot on. Yes, it's stupid. What gets me more is people WITHOUT the phone reading threads here, coming to halfbaked conclusions (fine, make of people's opinions here what you will, that's subjective), but then spreading them on as if they've seen it with their own eyes!!

Stating that there isn't enough RAM to run certain applications is fine if u've had the phone and tried it yourself, but it's another thing when you don't even have it/tried it yourself!!

IMO if u want to state something as fact without actually owning the P990i then at the very least quote another member here who has it. (not mentioning names, although this thread is prime example of what I'm on about).

My second pet hate is ppl bitching about a phone they don't even own, but I guess that's up to them, if that's what floats their boat so be it. However I wish they wouldn't make often misleading assertions without proof (either personal experience, or quote from somebody who has).

Moving back to the original topic of the post...

I've just bought one on eBay for £265 so it looks like the original proposition wasn't too far out, except it may not take until mid-Nov!

Now I just need to be patient and wait for the new firmware at the end of Nov and hope that fixes the worst of the problems, otherwise it will be heading back on to eBay.

Hi!

What is a reasonable price for a used P990 these days? In my country prices go from 410 EUR to estagorating 750 EUR,.. what are best prices in your country and what can we expect in late december or Jan 2007?

It's a physical fact. Less ram on boot + more hungry apps = problem. Especially compared to the previous model. Less operating RAM is not the way forward I'm afraid!

Oh come on .....

Stop defending the P990i and just read the first page of threads on Esato or My-Symbian.

Yes, I don't own it, and I am the lucky one who did my research first. I may buy it if the next release sorts out these issues, but I'm not holding my breath.

£500 for a phone that is (in many cases) not as good as it should be on it's 3rd firmware release. If you're happy with that then fine ..... but from what I am reading posted by other owners, there are MANY problems. It's just that you are happy with your one

I have had P series phones since the P800 and This latest model just ain't what I expect it to be ..... P1000 maybe!

Well, my P910i will hopefully be sold next week or so (200 EUR) and then I am going to by P990 (575 EUR). I know how good P910 is, it served me good beyond my imagination (as well as P900 before it) but it's time for me to move on.
UIQ 2 without any doubt has more apps but one glimps on UIQ 3 on my coleague's M600 made me forget about that fact, that mach better and more appealing it looks for me. And the fact is that more and more apps are coming.
I have ADSL internet connection and after P990 arrival the very next purchase will be ADSL router. How good it will be to check news on esato and surfing the internet (lendscape) lying on my couch (without counting gprs traffic) not to mention free access points on airports and hotels while traveling.
Finally I can take a good picture (judging by some posted here) which I definitely missed in P910.
As I like listen music I always carry with me stereo headphones (P910) but it's a bit mess in the car or at summer since the wire is there like it or not. Now I can talk and listen music via bluetooth headphones...beautiful.
I consider myself a bit more than ordinary user. My wife, friends, parents and coleagues always wander what in the world is so interesting in the phone. But really I never had any necessity to run 10-15 apps at the same time. Two or three are quite fine (e.g. Listening music and editing spreadsheet or reading a book and then receiving and answering a mail or checking my home environment (argus remote). Ares is IMO right by saying that a few MB more RAM will be enough and I believe it's going to be after a new firmware.

OK, I write to much. Just want to say to the current P990 happy users that I hardly wait to join the family:))
