@lfs: im gonna check it out well cuz i have this crackling even with the battery @ 100%. maybe my battery is like 2 years old, does this matter?

Yes, it matters. You can charge this type of battery only a few hundred times (300 I read somewhere). More than that it loses capacity. I suppose that you did more than that in 2 years. My phone and battery are new (2 moths).
I change the brightness to 50%, turn off Bluetooth, use only 96 kpbs mp3 and put a black wallpaper to save energy. I notice that, even with very low battery, the crackling was almost gone (twice all day long and only happens when I switch between tracks manually).
