SE owns 12% of Symbian whereas Nokia owns 47%. On top of that Nokia buys 80% of symbianOS licenses whereas SE buys something like 2%. So who do you think has the bigger influence on future direction of symbianOS which both UIQ and S60 are based on. So Symbian would be more obliged to implement new functionalities or tweak the core symbianOS to cater to Nokia's S60 platform than UIQ.

@mib- please spare us!! Firstly, I'm not ignoring the info you just provided but do you really know exacatly the plans of SE regarding UIQ? I think not, no I know you don't! At every given moment you have to find fault with SE, sometimes doing so blindly (because you're such a Nokia fan!). Until we know for sure the details of this acquisition it's best to be cautious and reasonable in our discussions.

mib1800 and prom1 your info are correct,

However that has nothing to do with UIQ not getting the source code and internal information from Symbian...

Symbian is Open OS, UIQ is based on Symbian it works on Symbian...

For example Nokia N80 and P990 are both based in Symbian 9.1, one using Series 60 3rd edition and the other UIQ 3.0, the interface it may be different but the core is the same exactly code, the code of Symbian 9.1, Symbian 9.1 has major memory issues so guess what both P990 and N80 has major memory management problems...

Thats how it goes....

If you are trying to say that Nokia one day will take total control of Symbian and drop UIQ by making Series 60 the only Symbian UI thats a totally different story and probably never is going to happen...
