Well i battled the elements (absoultely bucketing down here!)and took it back to the shop where i bought it from. I got a replacement handset and it is now happily charging away at the mains. I'll give it a good few hours. How do you switch off the 3g/video calling function as i know this does drain the battery somewhat !!!

First of all congratulation for your new phone. I hope you will max enjoy it as it is absolutely amazing phone.
Regarding your question here it is:
tools - control panel - mobile networks - gsm/3g network (arrow at the top).

Yay! It worked. I think i sussed out what caused my phone to crash. It seems i had a corrupt memory stick!!! Arrgh !!! Oh well at least i now know what caused it to conk out. Hope the egg heads at o2 where i bought the first phone from knows how to repair the handset !!!! Meanwhile my 2nd handset seems to be running smoothly and i have already downloaded some ring tones. Now all i need to do is get a decent theme and i'm up and running !!!

@Wirralbagpuss

Glad you got that sorted out.

Didn't you have a P910i before?

Actually it was a P900, I did have a P910i for a day but it was on Vodaphone and Darth Vader must have been using it cause the branding was awful. Sold it straight away, but now i am a very happy P990i owner. Gotta go back to work tomorrow but i may be playing with it under my desk !!! Hahahaha! Joking apart i will be in my lunchbreak !!

got mine today, sim free from Expansys. Very happy with it so far, beautiful looking phone with good feel to it. Wondering should I upgrade firmware? it's : phone:cxc162037 r4b001, bt:cxc162058 r4f01, org: cxc162036 r2a04, cda :162036 r2a04
bit wary of flashing it on its first day! (it was made in France by the way)
haven't managed to connect wifi to my wireless router yet, read someplace that it can have problem with WPA security which I have set up. Anyway, happy days at the moment. Glad u got ur replacement wirral.

Yup, this replacement phone is much better. Though i think it was the corrupt memory stick that crashed the first one. Put a new one in and it runs perfectly. So far i have the Daleks screaming at me on my phone when ever a text message arrives. Should liven up proceeding on the train to work in the morning !!!!!
