It is my son-in-laws phone and it works fine.

Seriously I am thinking:-

1) Static electricity.
2) Faulty battery
3) Faulty vibrator alarm (even though turned off).
4) Something to do with the camera lens cover closing/opening.

Alright, I'm not sure if this is gonna help, but I do sometimes feel my phone vibrating even though there's no phone-call, SMS, low batt or whatever. I'm pretty sure of that, it's just a short pulse, and it only happens once in a very long time. So anyway, it could be a plausible explanation, unless when you say it leapt, you really meant that high/far. As for the other guys, I think they're just trying to have fun, so don't be offended yeah?
