I'm sorry but when I plug my k750i to a windows PC, it is automatically detected as a removable drive. In my experience, I never had to install the phone's drivers in order to use it as a thumbdrive/memstick reader. In fact, I use my k750i as my main thumbdrive. Maybe the issues you stated are only applicable to the newer k750is?
