You might want to think twice about getting an upgrade version.

Using it at work, I quite like alot of it.
For some it'll be better to wait until service pack 1 though. (Using daemon tools here without an issue btw)

@mrao: btw try disabling UAC (msconfig -> tools -> disbale uac -> launch -> reboot) and that gets rid of alot of those annoying boxes. Google UAC if you wanna know more about it first though.

I probably won't form more than glancing opinions until it gets installed on my media server and gaming rig though.

Oh so you got a Mac then have you fatreg?

I ordered my copy of Windows Vista Ultimate and Microsoft Office 2007 today, should have it sometime tomorrow.

I understand there is generic drivers already on the Vista disc, not 100% sure if everything will be ok though. I already know a lot of software needs to have Vista compatible updates made for them i.e. Sony Ericsson PC suite and many many more software like that.

It's £850 for both Ultimates of both but I dont need that as I'm not a global organisation, I'm only a home user so went for the cheaper option

I got Windows Vista Ultimate as an OEM (to install on this machine only) if I get a further PC or laptop i'll obviously then get a OEM for that too. I've never needed Microsoft's support or warranty which is what you pay for with a retail boxed version, this is just the disc alone.

The Microsoft Office 2007 I have coming is Standard and is the retail boxed version. Office 2007 Standard is fine for me as it has you're essentials like Outlook 2007, Word 2007, Excel etc etc.

I also got Acronis True Image 10 coming as my version 9 isnt compatible with Vista, plus version 10 can do more as well. It's the best mirror imaging backup software in my opinion.

Also treated myself to another new mouse, the Logitech MX Revolution

Nah I went for the better priced option, I like value. I went OEM on the Vista Ultimate, same thing and under £120.

I can't really justify £350 for it in a box with support that I'll never use. And besides it can only be installed on one machine at a time anyway which is another reason to go OEM

It's nice if you can get a free though through being a beta tester or whatever mind.

By the way, I have Vista installed, really like this. Theres a few things to get used to.

Drivers wer'nt that much of a problem really. My xp network driver is working in this and there was quite a few to download from windows update. Waiting for Epson to release a specific driver for my printer an Epson Stylus RX620 though, they say it will be out in the next few days. Theres no problems playing any games like Battlefield 2142.

If anyone in the UK is looking for good prices for Vista and Office 2007, have a look on ebuyer and dabs.

but now you've got it can you post some up for us to see Thanks

I really want it myself dunno how long it will take before my friend
can get it tho

my Sony Vaio can't really handle VISTA,
it's only just working with XP Professional..

heard this morning that MS want cusumers to upgrade to Vista cos they plan to not make anymore updates for it in the next coming months really is abit cheesey that
