sound quality is mostly affected by the encoding of the file and the equalizer settings, dudes.... so you can have a non-walkman phone and still get great sound.

Walkman phones have orange colour(which some like and others hate),have walkman software(+megabass) and better earphones supplied with them than non walkman phones...and yes a higher memory stick than similar K series.I sound output depends on the earphones...not on the software.

well i have used a w800 k750 w700 k800 w810 w850 and z550.
iv tested all of them on Walkman hpm-70 headsets. without mega-bass, all of them sound exactly the same. even k310 gives almost the same output as other high end fones.
the difference lies in mega-bass wich takes music to another level... and im willing to shell out a few bucks more for this feature... but then, i notice that k750 (the only k-series with mega-bass) gives the same output as walkman series... infact wen u browse thru menus, u realize all Walkman fones r nothing but modded K750s... only media player is different in w-series...
so for the best camera in its class and gr8 sound quality, k750 is the best value for money device on the planet...

well i own a k800,i'm satisfied with sound quality,ofcourse i use a walkman earphone,but comparing sound quality with W :
my friend has a W850,we tested it on a regular speaker.first my k800 on the speaker,the sound is good,then with w850,the sound is GREAT,believe.....W850 supports more powerfull speakers featuring Bass and woof...
had a computer speaker not really good,k800 sound on it was a bit noisy and bassless(i changed equlizer values in order to have a better sound but not much success)..but w850 sound on the same speaker was Perfect,Great,Clear.......
beside this,all the W software features mentioned above,is handy,(for example sending music files to WALKMAN player or playlists directly from File Manager)
w850 here costs 450rls(money unit)..i wasn't dissaponted to spend 430 for k800,60 for M2 1GB and 20 for a walkman earphone(=510,much more expensive than a delivered k800)since i have a nearly walkman and a great Cyber-shot

i think that the k750 has all those W series advantage cuz they didnt have any W series yet so they put good sound quality but now with W series they took out the megabass from K series.
Thats my theory of why k750 has similar sound to the W series being a K

well, what about the battery capacity??
walkman phone can stand up to 30 hours (28 hours exactly on w850) for playing music.. can other phone do that??

dude... only new SE fones support wma, not even w800,w810 w700 can play formats other than mp3 mp4-aac...
only Walkman 2.0 fones like the w850 and new w880 w610 support wma.

just came from the 'k800 with walkman 2.0' thread and something i'm curious about. does it really sounds better on a walkman phone? i seldom use the media player on my k800, and when i do, i notice that the track listing and order gets confused even though the tracks are properly numbered from 01-10. also there is a slight static before each track starts. what makes?
