I don't understand this post buddy. What is 2? And set should be restarted by restart pc

. I think you should first restore the data on this hard disk before attempting another reinstall.

ext2
and than remove linux cd and insert xp cd and reinstall windows xp
and btw how do u create partition on linux? do u edit it ur self or do u use automatic partition option?

@dheeraj1 ya i used automatic partition from crapy mandrake 2003 (pretty old bt i want to instal it to learn a crack process ) ye mandrake itni muskil se mili n isne sara bedagark kr dia . Bt nw evrything is fine.
Bdw m not a newbie to linux bt a newbie to mandrake. Hav used redhat server n ubuntu. Bt this mandrake is totaly crap on window alongwith. I also removed it as u said bt it coruptd my hdd MBR. dats d prb. Bt hav soltd it.

well how did u remove mandrake ? and u said u r using linux from long time than why did u used automatic partition?
it is good only if u r doing fresh installation of linux without dual boot or if u have some empty space on hdd other wise it resize the c drive or windows partition which is not good and that is the reason u faced this problem so all in all ur fault
next time if u want to install linux created empty drive and allot 5+gb to it than install linux linux will automatically format that drive into Ext2
and u will not face such problem.
kabhi kabhi online tutorial padh liya karo
here is the tutorial
