It'd be really cool if V3.0 had a searching mechanism like the one in the file manager. Scrolling through all those artists is a pain in the ass.

I know what you mean. It's easily done in other areas of the UI and would work well in the media player.

Since I have a K800i, I actually haven't used either the walkman 1 or walkman 2 player, but the music player in the K8 has very much in common with the walkman 1 player.
There are some other things on a wish list for a new walkman player:
Possibility to order the playlists manually, not by sorting by name or artist etc.
Possibility to edit the ID3 tags. (I sometimes forget to do that before i transfer a mp3 file from my computer).

exaclty, @qvga, your comparing a smartphone player to a standard w850i type
player... try the w950i player and then come back and talk. besides, have u even used the n95 player?
the new
version will be good.....
any way, this is about
, not nokia....
yes i have, and its better than W850's. Whats music player got to do with smartphone or not?
hold the phone! Walkman 2 doesnt have search feature? i dont remember my self checking whether it has it not, but if it doesnt, then how can you say its better than Nokia music player? no search feature in a music phone = worthless music phone. ofcourse that doesnt matter if you have 10 songs, but i doubt anyone here has less than 100.

@qvga
well search feature is pointless for me.... why? because i dont know the name of any songs hardly, and im sure there are many others who dont know the name of some songs.....
smartphone- well, we all know smartphones are more customisable, yes? if you have used
in w850i and w950i, then im sure you can see the difference between smartphone and non smartphone
players, w950i is more customisable.....

i am pretty sure searching through 100's of artists and 500 or more songs take time. and since you dont remember the name of the songs, i doubt you're really a music listener.

i think the fact i listen to so much music QVGA is why i dont know the names.... i know a few, but not all..... on w950i you can rate each song, so the ones you like most list highest, and can easily be found. problem solved....
any way, back to
v.3, we should see it in q3/q4..... should be good, IF they get it right....

What is most surprising is that you don't understand that the N95 is close to
three times more expensive than say the W850. Smartphones have the obviously advantages of power and flexibility in what they can do; otherwise, why else would we have smartphones?
The
music player is fast and stable, and considering that the N95 can barely hold a day's battery life is indicative of how poor at the end of the day, it is at being a multimedia phone. There's no point in having a phone with the most powerful media player if you can't listen long enough to enjoy it.
Not to mention the inferior quality sound of the N95's music reproduction in comparison with
phones. It isn't much of a music phone, and that's why Nokia is lagging behind SE in the music department.
The 5300 is the only non-smartphone music orientated phone from Nokia, and it's far behind what SE offers.
