I'm glad you posted that. I'm also a Mac user and wondered about installing apps without PC Suite.

No worries. Any Mac tips and stuff you need, I can help you with. The N95 syncs just great with iSync. Guess what Nokia does that SE simply will not do? Nokia supplies you, via their website, the plug-in you need to make your Symbian phone sync with the Mac. They, Nokia, have committed to working closely with Apple to make things work together.

Another reason why I jumped from SE to Nokia.

By the way, to maximize the battery life in the N95. Make sure you turn off applications that are process hogs and are running in the background. Worldmate is one, Fring, and there are a few more. Just turn them off and if you can resist it, don't run the GPS 24 hours a day. I use my GPS maybe once a day (if then) and the battery will last almost 48 hours. Key word being almost.

Any minute now, you should get the Nokia haters coming along screaming that their SE phones can last up to a millennium on only a 15 minute charge and that Nokia sucks, but resist the urge to retaliate and know that you have a phone that SE is no where near producing.

Dude,

Sweetest tip I have received. NICE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check out this other one:
press the power button once and you'll be able to select the profiles!!!

Got this one mate. I do not care what people say about the N95 and its problems. The phone is cutting edge, state of the art and a great device. Nokia will fix the problems.

@sapporobaby, there are wild rumors flying about regarding a US-3G-compatible N95. Some say it's already out, some say it comes out after this weekend, some say August. If any of these are true, I better start saving my pennies - and keep working my W810 to death until then.

If the rumors are false, then it's an E50 for sure.

BTW, as a Mac user, I assume you use iTunes? How do you get your music from there onto your N95? Is there anything that makes the process more iPod-like?

(Music from iTunes was a PITA with the W810. I had to either drag'n'drop or use freeware/shareware that half worked. And I still had to re-create playlists on the W810 itself. And, the app still crashed randomly.)

No N95 for me, at least not yet - it's been confirmed that there is no US-compatible model, at least not presently

Cheers mate. Sorry to hear about the N95. Sucks.

As for the iTunes, I use "Sync Tunes". A free app and the guy that created is pretty nice. Try to donate a bit of cash as it helps for his kids diabetes. Do a search for it, and you can find the link. I can't remember it right now.

Cheers mate

I used SyncTunes for my W810. It worked OK, hampered only by the inability of the app to read .M3U playlist files. Of course, this - and the lack of true 1-way synchronization - keeps this from working as well as an iPod in iTunes.

There was also a script called iTunesMyWalkman, but this kept erasing the music on my phone

Oh well, guess I'll limit my new phone search to the E-series for now.

You have to remember. iTunes has the DRM thing going on so there is NO app that can directly access the DRM protected content. This is an Apple only party. Sync Tunes, the new version, is much better than the old version. Nice new interface as well.

My collection is 0% DRM

And Nokia has new software for OS X, which may make the N95 an iPhone-killer:
