sorry guys, couldn't test using Virgin as I don't have the gprs settings on my new phone - requested via Virgin but haven't turned up and can apparently take up to 24hrs.

I've just been thinking some more about this.

There is a way that we can determine if the problem is with the handset (an SE problem) or the network (an O2 problem).

we need...

Non-O2 branded K810i on any UK network other than O2
Non-O2 branded K810i on O2
O2 branded K810i on any UK network other than O2
O2 branded K810i on O2
and for good measure...
...K800i on O2 - I know for a fact that the K800i worked on O2 cause I had one and used the blogging a lot last August while on my brothers stag party!

if all phones try and post a photo blog we shall see what happens.

If the non-O2 branded phones work on all networks then it's the branding that's the problem.

If the O2 branded phone works on any network EXCEPT O2 then it's a network issue.

I've previously had a K800i on O2 and the blogging worked fine so from my point of view either O2 have changed their DNS server settings or there is something wrong with my K810i handset (which takes me back to my first point about the firmware/branding).

So that's what we need to do...phew!

Cheers

UPDATE: I've now debranded my phone via www.wotanserver.com so I have the latest firmware and it's totally non-O2...and it's still not working.

This would suggest that there is no problem with the O2 branding and is probably an O2 network issue...or is it?!!!

In the debranded version of the phone there are default Sony Ericsson GPRS settings. I used these and confirmed that I could connect to the internet (google and sony site).

I then attempted to blog and image and it still wouldn't work.

I don't receive an error when I try and "View blog" after posting my blog, basically nothing happens?!

So, not sure what's next as I'm now wondering if it's a handset issue after all?

But saying that, we have people out there who are blogging no problem???

Cheers

I remember, a while ago, discovering that O2's networks is somehow different from others. Its a converted analogue network or something?

Maybe someone could confirm this.

So its network related after all. Bugger!

Take your contract and go to T-mobile, thats one option.

No, I'm not sure it is the O2 network as this worked on my K800i which was on O2.

I used it at least 5 times a day for a week last august while on holiday and then occassionally throughout the year with no problems.

So unless O2 have recently changed their DNS Server setup it must be a configuration issue with the WAP/GPRS settings?

Talking of which, I found this google group where a guy has it working on O2.

http://groups.google.mv/group[....]ublishing/msg/2333bf98b1119eb2

Interestingly he's using O2 Mobile rather than O2 Wap - I don't know what the difference is but when I downloaded my settings from O2 they send out the WAP settings???

Just a thought.

Cheers

I can't get it to work in the Netherlands either.
Unbranded K810i and on Orange network.

And TV-Streams don't work on the orange network with K810i.

Right, it's deffinately the O2 network!

I spent 15mins on the phone to tech support (most of which was me holding) for the guy to tell me that if I can access the interent and send mms messages it's not a problem their end.

I asked him if he knew what a DNS was - he said no...so I explained to him that the problem was with their DNS server not being able to resolve the URL into an IP address etc etc...he said he'd get someone to call me back in an hour. I told him I had a friend with Vodafone and that I would try their sim to see if I could get it working.

I got my friends sim, used the vodafone configurator to get the GPRS settings sent over and tried to blog a pic...it worked first time! No sooner had the blog posted I received a txt with a token code AND I was able to view the blog when prompted.

It also successfully created a bookmakr so I've not got an actual URL I can look at. My plan is to specify O2's DNS server (193.113.200.200) on my PC and see if I can browse to the url - my guess is that I won't but we'll see shortly.

So, I'm now waiting to speak to O2...wish me luck in getting someone who knows what a DNS is!

Cheers

just to say that if anyone wants to test this...try viewing the following via your PC and then do the same via your phone - you'll get an error from the phone.

If you DON'T get an error and you ARE on O2 then please post your connection settings as this may be the key.

Cheers

Hi,

I've registered to post in this thread... have just recieved a k810i from O2 and I'm having the same problem.

If it was a wrongly configured DNS entry in the Connectivity\Data communication\Data accounts\%Profile%, then surely it wouldn't connect to the internet at all, as nothing would resolve?

My O2 Mobileweb DNS IP is also: 193.113.200.200

This address resolves with a reverse lookup to "dns0.02.net", so it's definitely up.

On my Unbranded K810i CHINA SM with APAC customisation and running R6BC002, updated via WotanServer, I have NO problems with Blogging. I can upload and get the token via SMS.
